The past few weeks have been busy with my father needing some major surgery and the departure of eldest daughter on her first overseas holiday...( slow deep breaths)...needless to say I have no finger nails left...
However I have had some time to complete a couple of projects...
If you've been following for awhile, you may remember a post a long, long time ago about wall decals. Yes, I have had a chandelier decal for a long time and finally decided to do something with it.
One chandelier decal....
One canvas and some Dulux Hog Bristle paint
equals some new wall art for my bedroom...
I really love the way it turned out....
I'm also loving my new doona cover purchased from Spotlight for $40...(I love that store)
Still a few more things needing to be done in this room...
I have an old dressing table purchased from the Salvo's for $30 a couple of years ago..
it was covered in brown paint and it took me 3 days to strip it using poisonous paint stripper, gorgeous gloves, goggles and mask...I thought I would never get it done.
I love it's shape and those gorgeous winged mirrors
see below...
Hmmm that's the decorating ghost of bedroom past....
Some advice appreciated....should I paint it and if so white, black?????
Yes even after alll that stripping...I am prepared to paint it !!!!
What do you think?
Thank you for coming back to visit, comment or just lurk....you make my day..
I will endeavour to visit you shortly..
Big hugs
XOX
I was going to say paint it white because I think a few coats of the magical white paint seems to solve all issues but then I had a thought, what about a sort of grey, a pale silver if you know what I mean with some black highlights somwhere on the trim for a sophisticated look?? Maybe? Happy New Year btw :)
ReplyDeleteNice work Kym. I love the decal and hogs bristle quarter strength is my paint of choice at the moment. I am painting anything that stands still long enough in that colour. Good pick up with the doona cover. I shall have to keep my eyes open in Spotlight. The dressing table would look great in white or 1/4 strength hogs bristle :) there is also a lot of grey getting around in blogland. I think half the fun is in the planning. ~Deb~
ReplyDeleteI vote black or charcoal, look forward to seeing what you do with it! Your chandelier decal looks fantastic, what a great idea! Rachaelxx
ReplyDeleteI'd go black if you're not into a wood finish. xx
ReplyDeleteHi Kym,
ReplyDeleteThe room is looking lovely. I don't have the energy to so much as lift a brush atm so feel guilty suggesting you should paint your dressing table but it would look good. I like the idea of grey but have you thought of a colour, maybe coral??
Hope you have a fab 2011.
Pamela xx

Happy New Year. Your bedroom looks gorgeous, the chandelier on canvas really sets it off. I am just putting the finishing touches in our bedroom now that we have moved back in after 8 weeks out of it and have gone with a French style too. Love it. G
ReplyDeleteThe bedroom looks lovely kym. I think i would be tempted to paint the dresser in white if you are going to keep it in your bedroom as you have quite a few black accents already.. But then black would look stunning!!! It depends how much light your room gets i think.. Your canvas artwork looks fantastic!! great job!
ReplyDeleteGet well wishes for your father; hope he is on the mend and how nerve wracking that your daughter has gone travelling!!!! I am sure she will be fine but i can understand your concerns there!!
